PHOTOPOETRY

What is Photopoetry?
I came across the term "prose poetry" whilst studying French literature at university - I believe it was the poet, Charles Baudelaire, who coined it. In a nutshell, it is normal narrative, the sort you would find in any novel, but written in such a way that it conjures up images in the mind as vividly as poetry might. It is descriptive writing in essence, one that allows the author or poet to drift into the realms of poetic language and imagery without being confined to the strict parameters of verse, rhyme or rhythm. For me, it is a means of taking me back in time to the moment I took the image and a method of conveying to the reader the atmosphere, mood and sentiments experienced by me, which the photograph alone might not convey. I hope this doesn't sound pretentious; I simply like describing in words what I see through the viewfinder. In essence, I'm just an amateur wildlife photographer (and linguist) clinging on to a passion for birds - and words, hence "Photopoetry".
My home is full of framed photos much like the one below but it is only recently that I have begun to add prose to some of them. I'm happy to sell prints (tastefully framed if required). The text can be altered or removed if you wish. See 'shop' for more details (on the top tool bar).
