Photogenic Familiar Friends in Southern France

A week near Narbonne and frequent visits to a familiar expanse of reedbeds in the typically gorgeous light of early morning and late evening allowed me to capture on digital film species that are hard to see let alone photograph back in the UK. A wealth of heron/egret/ibis species were the standard fare here and frequent flyovers from Squacco, Cattle, Little, Great, Grey, Purple, Black-capped Night and Glossy representatives made photography a cinch. Harder to capture were the Bearded Tits, which despite being numerous and frequently seen, always seemed to be hidden behind an obstructive reed-stem. Lovely birds, all of them, and in a fabulous setting - one that should be protected by law but is over-run with the hunting fraternity. Came home with my best shots ever of the Reedlings, and of many of the heron-like species.
