Magical Merlin & Peregrine power past
I knew something was amiss when the whole flock of 1000+ Dunlin took flight and began swirling around the mudflats for no apparent reason. Then the source of their panic burst onto the scene: a Merlin, a young male perhaps, charged through the flock and came to land on a rock to catch its breath.
Later that day, a young Peregrine was seen cruising over the peat bogs nearby but it was too late for a photograph - the bird dashed through into strong sunlight. I had to settle instead for nice shots of Little Egret by the river.
