Shades of grey on a dull day

Today began as well as I could have anticipated with the juvenile Common Crane showing brilliantly at Coldstream, and despite the incessant drizzle, I managed to get some pleasing shots of a bird rarely seen up north.

The middle part of the day was less productive; there was no sign of the Black Scoter at Cocklawburn Beach. I did, however, relocate the Bonaparte's Gull at Bamburgh but the light was poor and the tide was retreating - together with the rarity. This is probably the best shot I got, with the rarity featured here with 2 Black-headed Gulls.
