Cairngorms Clean-up
Bit of an exaggeration: dipped on Ptarmigan (no sign near the ski-lifts) and Black Grouse (rain stopped play), but otherwise productive despite the mostly rubbish weather. (It was actually better here than in most parts of the UK.) No shots of Capers (flight views only) and a distant shot of Scottish Crossbill weren't ideal but the Snow Buntings at the ski resort car-park were very showy and performed beautifully for the camera (despite the tourists). Hawfinches were seen well at Scone, I got both Glaucous and Iceland Gulls at Lossiemouth and I took my best shots of Crested Tits, too, at the usual spot at Loch Garten. Sadly, the snow didn't hang around here (I had hoped for Christmas card images) but it did on Cairngorm and I'm chuffed with the Bunting images.
