Curlew Sands in perfect light
With only one showing at Bowness (and roosting amongst tightly packed Dunlin), I was right in thinking that the main flock had found another feeding site and tried Port Carlisle. Sure enough, the place was teeming with waders of all kinds and amongst them were at least six Curlew Sandpipers. (The Little Stint was probably there too but I was keener on getting nice images of the former.) The light was kind on me this evening and the birds were typically tame enough for me to approach.
Nearby, a single Wheatear posed beautifully on the rocks and concrete embankment at Bowness.
