Local Port proves productive

Port Carlisle is producing the goods at the moment - not with anything spectacularly rare but with a host of uncommon species that are normally hard to photograph. On the 24th August I found Spotted Redshank and Peregrine and on 25th Osprey and Peregrine again (as well as brief flight views of the Spotted Redshank and a Sparrowhawk). The usual Little Egrets and Grey Herons were also performing in nice light, and there were at least 4 Common Sandpipers on view. The Osprey encounter was a memorable one indeed: it drifted in scattering every wader in sight and proceeded to hover over the harbour pool - right above me! Amazing.
