Ring-necked plays ball at last

That pesky duck at Longtown eventually came within range today, and I was pleased (if not relieved!) that I managed some decent images this time. The light was typically pretty poor (it's virtually impossible to get the sun behind you here), but after a bit of gentle coaxing, I eventually persuaded it to go swimming in the only patch of water that would allow me to take a decent shot. And I'm actually pretty chuffed with this one, not least the colours that show the bird's subtle beauty. Other duck species showed well, too, including Gadwall and Tufted Duck, the former posing well for some flight shots. The Pochard (2, I think) kept their distance.
