Smew frustrates and RBG no show

I dropped in at Strathclyde County Park for the Ring-billed Gull on my way north, but it failed to show. (It was seen later in the day, apparently.) The pair of Smew weren’t hard to locate on Aird Meadow (Lochwinnoch) but they were frustratingly distant, and the edge of the lake proved impossible to access north of the hide (but possible perhaps next time if I remember my wellies). Still, I got some decent record shots of the pair, and there were also Goldeneye, Mute Swan and Goosander on show, the first two coming close in good light.
