Tarn with Two Treats
A Red-necked Grebe at Talkin was almost enough to tempt me over there, but when a Black-throated Diver joined it, this tipped the balance. Clear blue skies helped, and after the hassle of finding £2.40 for a car-parking ticket, I was on my way round the lake in search of the two scarcities in question. The Diver was easily found, but was too far for a decent shot. I'd come back for this one later. The shot below was my best in the end, just before I set off home.
The Grebe was much easier, in that it was much closer, but it spent most of the time hidden in the shade of the tall trees. Occasionally it would drift further out into the sunshine, but then distance was the problem. Either way, the autumn colours of the surrounding trees adding some interest to the photos I took, and I ended up with some pleasing images.
