The Jan-Feb Locals 2023

Nothing much to report. The weather has not been great for birding and personal circumstances have confined me to barracks much of the time. Still, the 1st January proved a good day for Grey Partridge in the paddock, 15th Jan saw me getting good shots of Willow Tit and Long-tailed Tit at the local reserves and a trip down to Siddick Pond on 5th February was rewarded with good views of the female Smew and plenty of Goosander. Back at home, on the same day, I was pleased to locate and photograph one of the very few Russian White-fronted Geese in Cumbria over the winter.
